Forget Legal Jeopardy. The Real Danger for Trump From the Epstein Files is the Bursting of his MAGA Bubble.

Now that millions of files are belatedly being released by a reluctant, Trump infected, Department of Justice (DOJ) the real jeopardy for Trump is finally confirmed.  Not that he is likely to have to face trial for any criminality on his part.  Either directly abusing young women or being a part of the group that enabled it.  Despite complaints lodged, prosecutors clearly decided there was insufficient evidence to successfully proceed.  Otherwise, you would expect that he and many others they’ve investigated, would have been charged and prosecuted by now.  But now that the published files are in the court of public opinion, it’s another matter entirely.

The files in various forms have been in the possession of numerous law enforcement offices – between Florida and New York State – for decades.  These departments have been overseen by either Democrat or Republican administrations with evidence being gathered since the mid 1990’s from at least one accuser.  Maria Farmer was recently vindicated when her 1996 complaint finally saw the light of day from the release of some of the Epstein files in late 2025.  They revealed her original complaint of her sister being abused had been received and documented but never acted on.  Despite the attempts of those interested in discrediting her.  Painting her as a liar for stating that she’d filed a complaint against Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell way back then.  Quite rightly she asks, ‘why wasn’t anything done then?’  How many other victims could have been spared from the clutches of Epstein, Maxwell and their co-conspirators, paedophiles and enablers?  Sadly, the presumption of innocence even applies to paedophiles.  Especially powerful ones.

Unfortunately for Trump, the fact that there is not a slew of Democrats named in the Epstein files, as the dark web has been suggesting for many years now, is the beginning of a swift end for him.  Having ridden this wave and built up expectations that he was the man who was trying to out this ‘deep state cabal’ has been a source of great faith by too many of his base.  Instead his name appears thousands of times.  Again, in legal terms, that is not the real danger for him.  Not even the graphic description by one accuser of a rape when she was only fourteen.  If the DOJ or the FBI had thought they had a chance in hell of prosecuting him for this alleged act, they would have done so already.  No, the real danger for Trump is that his once fervent, supporters in the Republican party and the wider community, all now have a ‘permission slip’ to finally break from him and all the other dreadful behaviours they have tolerated so far.  They don’t have to admit they were wrong to vote for him.  They don’t have to look in the mirror and face up to themselves.

Especially those inadequate men who hid their appalling racism and sexism behind their vote for Trump rather than Kamala Harris.  Hiding behind the fig leaf of an excuse of concerns about inflation.  They knew who he was and they voted for him.  They knew he had no chance of bringing down inflation on day one.  Or ending the Ukraine war.  They knew he’d lost the 2020 election and tried to stage a violent coup.  They knew he’d mismanaged the Covid pandemic.  They knew he’d been found guilty in a civil trial of sexual assault and in another court, guilty of over 30 counts of fraud.  They knew he was Putin’s useful idiot.  Yet they lapped up his threats to immigrants and various minority groups because he wasn’t going after them – he was going after the ‘others’.  Just about any group they could lay the blame on for whatever grievances they felt had befallen them. Now with the newly released, incontrovertible evidence of Trump’s long and close association with Epstein, they still do not have to man up and grow up.  They can now say “I didn’t know he was so involved with Epstein”.  They can excuse their way out of their vote for him, ease their conscience and never have to face up to the reality of their own inadequacies.  For the orange ape masquerading as President, the champion of the inadequate man, that is the real danger.  No one can save him now.  Not even his slavish mouthpieces at Fox News or Steve Bannon, Alex Jones and all the other shock jocks and right-wing conspiracy theorists.  Because the biggest problem for Trump is, with the confirmation of his grubby past, he is now revealed not as the leader of the disaffected and put upon – but as someone who is even more inadequate than they are.  For those men, the bedrock of his loyal base, that is the ultimate betrayal. The spell is broken, the bubble has burst and Trump is now effectively finished.
